I tend to write all over the place. I have a desk where I do a lot of writing, but also a favorite chair in the corner of my bedroom where I often plop down my laptop or read back what I've written. Here is a pic of my favorite writing chair.
Well, I write in my own office, right below my living quarters. It's not a cellar, if that's what you're thinking, but more like I live on the first floor, and my work space is on ground floor. :P I write on my Desktop, always. I can't even write on a laptop, I hate those things :P I can't write anywhere else easily either. I always have to have a bottle of water near me as well, and I <3 tea when I'm writing :D
I like to write in front of my fireplace, which has a beautiful stained glass screen that looks like a peacock's tail. Kylie Scott actually helped me pick it out on one of her trips to the US. I generally sit in a green wingback chair that looks like hell but that's very comfy, and I have a little rolling laptop desk I use to keep from gacking out my neck too bad :)
My writing cave varies from day-to-day. I have a home office for my other business, but being in there saps any creative energy out of me, so I don’t tend to write in there. Sometimes I edit in there. At the moment, I’ve taken over our dining room table, so I write there maybe 50% of the time. I also write on the couch about 30% of the time, although that gets uncomfortable sometimes. I have to remember to get up, stretch and walk around at least once an hour! A writer friend of mine (K.A. Mitchell) introduced me to this idea of “changing your seat” when you’re having writer’s block. So, since I work and write from home so much, sometimes it helps to get out of the house so some fresh ideas come to me! I try to meet up with other writer friends so we can bounce ideas of each other or just do “sprints” to get the words flowing. This is an immense help! When I’m home, I always, no matter what, have this little guy by my side. He’s very patient. But at a certain point he demands I set the laptop aside and pay attention to him! Thanks so much for asking about where I write!
