I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself. I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.
I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Charities page.

INTERVIEW
1. How and when did you get started as a writer? Q
Thank you for inviting me to visit your blog. It’s a pleasure to join you and your readers.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but my first novel, “Gabriel’s Inferno,” was published in 2011.
2. How do you usually find your ideas?
Most of my ideas come from literature and art. For example, the inspiration for “The Raven” came from Botticelli’s painting “Primavera” and the myth of Cupid and Psyche from Apuleius.
3. Where do you write? (Home, office etc.)
I write in my home office.
4. How long does it take you to write a book?
It depends. It’s usually a few months. I try to publish at least one book per year.
5. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
I write daily and I write as much as possible for as long as possible. Then I spend the rest of the day editing.
6. Do you have any suggestions to help become a better writer? If so, what are they?
I have two suggestions. First, write daily. This practice develops discipline as a writer. Second, find someone you trust and ask them to read your work and give you constructive criticism. Every writer needs an editor. Every writer can improve his or her writing in some way.
7. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?
I’ve been known to whistle without realizing.
8. What is your greatest weakness?
Truthfully, I have many. But the greatest would be my failure to do the right thing when I know that I should.
9. What is your greatest strength?
I try to be positive.
10. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
At one point, I wanted to be a writer. It took me a while to realize that goal.
